An Ancient River Runs Through London

The view from a kayak in the river is surprisingly wild, for a city. These paintings describe the bend in the river between Richmond Street and Wellington Street, a short walk from St. Paul’s Cathedral. In 1860 the London Boat Club rowed on the same stretch of river. That was the south end of town.
